VIA Volunteer Positions

Thank you for volunteering at this year’s Designer House. We appreciate and value your help with this event – our largest fundraiser.  We could not achieve our goal without your help.  To register for one of the VIA-Member Only positions at the Designer House, please click on one of the following roles:

Pre-opening

  • House Sitter – monitor the house while design work is underway, represent the VIA with design team

During Tours

  • Cafe* – serve prepared foods and beverages, accept cash, check and credit card payments
  • Captain* – Be the VIA representative for the shift – manage Tour Guides, handle issues and emergencies (please refer to Guide Orientation dates for Captain Training)
  • Designer House Guide – make the experience of touring the house and gardens pleasant for our visitors, represent the VIA and the design team
  • Designer Sales* – Collect  payment for the purchase of designer decor including cash, check and credit card
  • Opener/Closer* – Openers – open the house and turn off the alarm system, prepare the house to open for tours, e.g., turn on lights, unlock doors, set out guides, Closers – turn off all lights and lock up windows & doors
  • Pick Up Treasurer* – collects cash, checks and credit card receipts each day, tallies the amounts collected for deposit and deposits the funds in the bank
  • Raffle Ticket Sales – sell raffle tickets
  • Ticket Sales Desk* – collect printed and online ticket receipts from guests, collect cash, check or credit card payment for sales at the door, hand out guides and explain where guests may start their tour
  • Watering* – water gardens and planters before the house opens for tours

* at least one person per shift must be a VIA member
